The pain relief roll-on contains a local anesthetic that works to temporarily block the pain signal pathway. Stimulating the pain receptors at the ends of nerves causes pain. Following this stimulation, sodium enters the nerve ending and causes an electrical signal to build up in the nerve. When the electrical signal is big enough, it passes along the nerve to the brain where it is interpreted as pain.
